Just saw you guys at the Palace in Melbourne and can only describe you as the band that was. Started off with some good oldies. Then you went pop, and never really got back to being exciting. I don't mean you should play only old songs, just give up on trying to be a pop band. You've seen how well your last 2 albums have gone. You guys are just so much better than catchy tunes that are forgoten in a minute.
P.S. i saw your last show in Philadelphia and it rocked wickedly... the oldies were the cake, and the newbies were the icing... and to that character skids out there, you should be officially banned from this site for claiming the new material lacked excitement. This is a "fan" base blogging page correct? The keyword being fan... If you don't like the new material, than you're not a fan. Instead of going to shows, stay home and listen to liguid skin on your mp3 over and over and over again...
Just to add to the counter opinions, I love, love, love, love, love HWO -- especially seeing the songs performed live (twice so far since the release date, in Vancouver). The songs are unforgettable. I love Split the Difference too. That's the one I give to people when I want to get them into the band.
But if you guys do want to get a little messier on your next album, I'm all for it. You're the only band I listen to who've never put out a crappy disc.
