TomBlog - bleary man

We just finished a few days of mental breakdown-inducing work/gigging. 3 songs on telly, an iTunes session ending at 5.30 am, an extravagant meal of epic proportions (thank you melissa x), a conference gig in a restaurant, filmed interviews, 5 gigs, a radio performance, and much more in an 8 day non-stop whirlwind fun storm. My brain is over-medium. I haven't slept for 3 days. My legs ache. I think I need a break. 2 days off in a month is starting to burn a bit.
I think the iTunes went well. I wrote a song especially, just a me and a guitar thing, but we were so tired/drunk/perfectionist, I can't really be sure how things turned out. I'll get to hear the results in a day or two - here's hoping...... my horn playing friends Jordan and Stuart from Antiballas came and did the session and the SF show the night after. They put their stamp on a couple of old favourites for the session. They bring so much enthusiasm with them, it's hard not to get caught up in their thing. Really splendid gents. Danna from Matt Pond P.A. did an awesomejob on the cello at our Warfield show too. It's inspiring to teach a fellow musician one of our songs and get them up on stage with us. I enjoy the process a lot.
Tucson is proving to be a really surprising place. The hotel is unreal - hotel congress - and the gig is beautiful - rialto theatre. The place is all perfectly kept the way it was in the thirties. It's so rare to see old stuff in the US, it turns out to be a deeply affecting experience. Settles the soul. Glad I'm gonna wake up in Vegas.......

Hi Tom

Josh and I had such an incredible time seeing you and the guys on the West Coast leg of the tour. Thanks so much for coming out for drinks in Seattle. The vodka-tonics will always be on us, cheers.

The Warfield show was so amazing, definitely for me in the top 5 of Gomez shows. It was so great to have Jordan and Stuart on horns. They added such a wonderful layer to the mix. It was also great having Danna come out to play cello.

Lastly, I really enjoyed the edgier/darker version of GSLD. All and all another great night out listening to Gomez.

Thanks again,

Hi all,

Thanks for an amazing night of music in Vancouver! I don't get out to many concerts these days and it was very cool to see you have so much fun. I don't know how you do it but you sounded even better live!

Warfield was unreal. The horns, cello, vibe, everything made for SUCH a great show!
It was cool to see the 3 songs at Carson Daly. The crowd was interesting.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow in Vegas.
Seeing how tired I am after following you guys around even a little bit this week, I can't even imagine how exhausted you all must be. Props, and much love!

So great to see Gomez in Tucson! My fiance and I have been great fans for the past few years and I've seen you in SF and Portland, but it was great to welcome you to my hometown last evening (that was me at the far right of the stage in the black derby hat!) As always, you played brilliantly and it was fun to have our 10 year-old along for his first taste of Gomezza live... We'll see you back here soon. Thank you for such making such beautiful music!

Do you ever feel like the Beatle's 'number 9, number 9' is going round your heads'. I wouldn't be surprised. How many fingers am I holding up?

Two days off in a month? So, i guess a six hour set in glasgow is out of the question? lmao. Saturday night at the barrowlands, oh my that is going to be a very interesting evening :-D The uk Mezzers, G team, mezbians etc are all really looking forward (as always) to november when you guys get back home.

P.S..Don't know if you know this but the blues held arsen-hole to a 1-1 draw at the emirates stadium. 3points ahead of the reds and sitting in 6th position. Not bad at all. At this rate i foresee a champions league spot :-)

Now for the shipping/maritime forecast..

Hope all is well fella

Looking forward to hearing whatever you're in the mood to play tonight, although why you'd come play up at 3000 meters when you're all exhausted seems a little wacky.

Speaking of which, hearing about that California opening sure is intriguing! And if you feel like throwing in a weird one, I was listening to Meet Me in the City and thinking I'd like to hear your latest Gomezification of that tune some day....

The Warfield Show was outstanding. I have attended every SF/Sacramento/No. Cal show since 1998, and it was in my top 3. I am glad to see you have out grew the Filmore, for the right reasons: THE GOMEZ LOVE IS BEGINNING TO SPREAD... I love you guys, and am excited that you still push on to amaze me as the years go by... THANK YOU!

Shout out to IAN, my rock g*d...

I am also feeling happily bittersweet about you guys out growing the Filmore: it means the GOMEZ LOVE IS BEING SPREAD AROUND....

Thank you for amazing me, and impressing my friends year after year, and never letting up.. Also Shout out to the hottest member in my humble opinion: IAN, my personal Rock G*d...

Guys -

The show in Denver last night was great! Wish I could hear it over again and again. I'm a newbie and hadn't heard a lot of your stuff, but LOVED it all. Not a bad one in the bunch. I'm really bummed that I didn't catch the flower pot hat, though. Come back soon!

Hey Guys,

Just a very belated note to say great show in Calgary a few weeks ago, though I was disheartened to see a small turnout. Not alot of people in here have heard of you guys. Probably because music (if you want to call it that) like Fergie and Pussycat Dolls are being shoved down our throats. I guess sex really sells. Have you guys given any thought to performing in hot pants?
