BlackieBlog-Feelin Hot,Hot,Hot

So after a busy day it's time to sit down on the bus and relax before heading to bed. Started the day with the KCRW show in Santa Monica where we played the first six songs from the new record. You should be able to listen to it still at the KCRW website if you didn't manage to catch it earlier. Immediately after the show we were off to the airport to fly to Pheonix, Arizona. I was chatting to a guy, on the plane, who lives here & he was telling me how it would regularly be 115F in the summer months & sometimes be in the 120's, holy c^*p. I'm English, I'm gonna suffer big time in that kind of heat, begin to remember the time I burnt to a crisp at the Coachella Festival, Palm springs & spent the rest of the day listening to random strangers telling me to put sunscreen on, then the pilot announces 104F for today just before the plane begins bouncing around like a ball on a piece of elastic string, this is turning out to be quite the journey! So after landing we made our way outside, there it was, the hit of the whole heat.
We played at the Marquee Theater tonight. Once again we had a really good crowd of people singing along to tunes new & old which was great to see. There was a new introduction to the ending of Devil Will Ride, thanks to Ol & Ben, which involves a rhythm from a certain British metal band who started in the late seventies & became big in the eighties, strangely enough it worked & sounded pretty rocking, but let's see if anyone at future shows can figure out which band it's from. And so this brings me to the present moment where it's time for bed. Night all!

Hi Guys,

My Hubby & I just saw your KCRW show and we broke out in goosebumps twice & got moved to tears, cheered, applauded--our dogs thought we lost our minds. Maybe we did, because at that moment we decided it would be a REALLY good idea to drive 4 (or maybe 5) hours to Tennessee to see you again in June since you won't visit us again here in Georgia. *sigh* I can't believe that my husband and best friend and me have turned into groupies. ACK! What have you guys done??!! lol We can't wait!!
Get plenty of sleep & take the herbal suppliments that your friends gave you!
We hope you're all doing ok.
Love,
Vikki & Rob

Yes but its a dry heat. Meaning that 100F doesn't feel that different from 120F-- you still want to die just as much.

Wonderful Show at the Marquee! Particularly enjoyed Ruff Stuff and Devil Will Ride. Sorry about the heat, but like many other miseries and forms of torture, one gets accustomed to it.

Much Love,
Footbath and family of 5.

P.S. My 10 year old is a big fan, and last night's show was his first concert!

sunscreen is overrated. here are my desert survival tips:
1. drink lots of vodka (must be made in a cold place, like russia or finland)
2. carry an umbrella, lace & ruffles for best effect
3. go topless!!

4. Bring eyedrops - they will stop your eyeballs from crusting over.
5. Stay wet at all times. If you can, just sit somewhere dark under a wet towel and have a G&T.
6. Invest in a hand-held mini-fan, and attach it to your hat.

Awesome sound. I've only recently discovered you guys, not having listened to much "radio" for the past 10 years. It's like waking up! I missed a lot of good music, but for me it's all new. The whole big hair & makeup movement turned me off in the 80's. Good to hear some raw sounds out in full force again. I'm surprised you're English. Being from Athens, Ga, I had you pegged for Americans from the sound. I expected long hair and blue jeans, not derby hats! Keep it up! Now, I must research the meaning behind how we operate... Wick

Great sound, a stark contrast from listening to seeing. I expected long hair beards and blue jeans, not derby hats! This coming from someone who turned the radio off in the 80's... couldn't handle the big hair and make-up. Van Halen was never the same after Diamond Dave! Good raw stuff coming from Gomez. Hats off... Newc

Oh you lovely lovely lads,

So I haven't been to as many shows as I would like (only 6), but it was a great pleasure of mine to meet Ian at Hotel Cafe in LA after driving all day from SF, where I caught the show at Cafe du Nord.
But no matter where I go, or how much I adore your music, I have always screamed requests for "Buena Vista", which have not been honoured yet.
Maybe if you see this by tomorrow (oh good God, I am excited to see you!) you'll know that this request is from the same girl who will be begging you to play it tomorrow. If that isn't enough, I am flying to London and catching your other SOLD OUT show at Shepard's Bush. You boys make me so happy, but hearing Buena Vista LIVE would be truly orgasmic!

Fantastic show tonight boys! Brought my friend who'd never heard you before, shoved her up near the front, and she was paralyzed with amazement the whole night. Count one more Gomezzian to the list. Wish you could have played all night. Please come back to LA soon and feed my addiction.

And tell Ford he creates beautiful chaos. Thanks! --R

12. Venture outside sporadically during daylight hours between the months of May and July.
13. Plan a winter tour to Arizona and enjoy a Heineken poolside.
14. Enjoy one of our many day spas for a quick massage and you won't remember how hot it is.
